We just came back from Bundaberg Saturday evening at 8 PM. We had been to the christening of Vienna – the dear little great-great-granddaughter that Mum cradled in her arms in hospital just before she died.. The baby was so sweet and didn't cry once during the ceremony. Afterwards we had a hot finger food lunch at a hotel and you should have seen the beautiful cake.. I've never been to such a lavish christening.
On Friday night Teegan, (Larry's granddaughter), turned 21 and had a birthday party at the same venue. Since we had travelled up early Friday morning, well early for us! Don't laugh – 9 AM IS early for us – I decided to go to bed early. At 3 PM Friday afternoon we had been to the graveside ceremony where Mum's ashes were ceremoniously placed in Dad's grave. It was sad of course but this is what Mum wanted, and we all placed rose petals on top of the engraved box. Cousin Cathy brought roses.
The wind raged almost all weekend, but the rain held off for once. We drove around Bundaberg looking at all the flood damage. Empty houses with broken windows are so sad.
Pete treated himself to a bottle of Royal liqueur from the Rum distillery before we left – it's famous and smooth as silk.
Bless you all for reading. Giddy.
